Allegany is one of 4 high schools in Allegany County Maryland. It has the highest number of college bound students, the highest average SAT scores, as well as the highest percentage of advanced placement students. Last year 1.6 in college scholarships were awarded. This is more than the total for the other 3 high schools. If you are a strong academic student and move to this county, this is the school to attend. it has several award winning organizations including a band that has won 9 straight state championships and finished 11th in the nation in 2007 at the USSBA National Championship. The mock trial team has been undefeated for several years, as has its environmental team. The athletic programs are also one of the top overall programs in the state.
