School Reviews

My twins went to Atkins for four years and overall loved it. They both came out of traditional middle school and thrived in a STEM environment. We chose Atkins primarily because of Principal Childress. He was a vital lifeline for the school always supporting and cheering the students on. They succeeded in so many ways because of him, and the energy he gave to the school, teachers, parents, and kids. Unfortunately, Mr. Childress passed away during the kid's 10th grade. It was an immeasurable loss. The students and teachers persevered and Atkins continues to be a great school. Dr. Nichols was named the new principal and has done what we all expect from a principal. Keep the school running and continue to drive great results. The one thing that Dr. Nichols could do better is showing up to the school functions. My kids were very active and I never saw him at a school play, sporting event, award ceremony, etc. The kids would benefit and be excited to see their leader show up.

Very warm and positive place for students. Academics are challenging, but teachers really support students. Lots of clubs, teams, competitions, sports, internships, etc to give students a chance to explore their interests.
