Byrd High School is an amazing school. There is an enormous amount of pride and spirit at Byrd. As a student, walking through the hallway gives me a wonderful since of pride, knowing that I attend one of the best schools in the state of Louisiana. The academics are awesome, there are many different coursesn and the teachers are willing to help students at any cost. There are so many clubs at Byrd and numerous extracurricular activities, there are more added each year. The athletic department is beyond compare, and there is something for everyone at Byrd. The parents get involved as much as the students, the parents are a strong support system for the school, the number of parents and students at any event is just about equal. The principal makes being a Byrd student all the more exciting, knowing that you are safe at every point in the day is very comforting, Mr. Badgley creates a safe and friendly environment. As the mascot (Jack), I have been able to interact with many middle school students, and see the reaction on his/ her face when they walk through the door. Byrd offers such a variety of programs, athletics, and organizations, that it is hard not tofind your place at Byrd. Sadly, I will be graduating this year, and I must say, that I will dearly miss Byrd, but I will know that I left my mark on such an amazing school. To quote the Alma Mater, "Always deep within our hearts, the purple and the gold!" this is so true... please keep the tradition alive! GO JACKETS!!!!
