I'm a Sophomore graduating 2017 in stoneman douglas, let me tell you how this school isn't what it is put up to be. It is classified to be an A school, but has B- teachers. There are few good ones, no doubt, but the number is too few. For four consecutive periods I have teachers that do not care about students, or have a false back ground that gave them the job. The school boasts its deca program, which i must admit is better than most in broward county, but even still, there are a total of 3 teachers in it, 2 out of the three are unqualified for their jobs and recognition. They talk about their social life daily, give detentions like they're candy, and have no real understanding other than assigning homework doesn't help kids learn, when they are even learning anything in that class, which just doesn't happen as much after the first semester. Counseling is a joke. You are called into it once a year, and they don't bother to learn any students name, which is manageable. If you need help, don't expect to turn to a counselor, because they wont do their job, but at-least they don't do it with a smile on their face. Fights happen daily, and so do drugs. Terrible environment.

Staff (with a few, maybe two exceptions) could care less about your child. Issue's are never resolved and the pricipal pushes off your requests for a conference. In addition, this web site will only post "positive" reviews" and refused to post my previous entries. This is my third try as other parents have to know. Dont send your child to Douglas if they cannot self teach or get straight "A's"
