SSIS was my first teaching job out of a teacher training program at SCF. I gave 5 years of service under some tough conditions including a tough student demographic, poor to nonexistent parental support, staff cliques and a lack of communication from the top down. The end for me came when the original school principal was forced out by a small, but persistent group of dissatisfied staffers. In the aftermath of the admin change, I was isolated and treated like the proverbial mushroom as the new regime established itself. Funny how you know your days are numbered by the vibe of a place. I was let go during the summer by phone and not provided with any severance or outplacement support. Nice. My position being eliminated was cited as the reason for my dismissal even though the staff directory has the same amount of people right now. The experience wasn''t alI bad. It gave me a place to develop enough skills to land a better job and I do miss a bunch of great kids and a handful of supportive parents. I am proud of the association with the first admin team from 2014-2019. What followed was a personal and professional dumpster fire. A warning to anyone seeking employment at SSIS: Don''t bring anything into the building heavier than your lunch and car keys and beware of the folks who are there to help.

Unprofessionally run by an inept upper administration!!! The takeover has resulted in DECEPTIVE hiring practices, massive layoff of teaching staff within the first month of school, students schedules being changed AT LEAST 3 times during the first quarter. All of which have resulted in overcrowded classrooms, students not getting the classes they signed up for, difficulty meeting the needs of students, unnerved and unhappy parents, INABILITY TO MEET STUDENTS'' NEEDS - which they each most certainly deserve!!!!! Now, they are advertising to hire substitute teachers; no doubt to replace the 6+ teachers they disposed of unconscionable!!!!!!
